Quiet Enjoyment

A tenant's ability to enjoy their rented space, meaning their entitlement to the ordinary and lawful enjoyment of the premises without substantial interference. Temporary discomfort or inconvenience does not qualify as a breach. Landlords are obligated to protect this right, balancing it with their maintenance responsibilities, and can be held responsible for other tenants' actions if aware of a problem and failing to take reasonable steps. RTB Policy Guideline 6 provides further information.
