Administrative Penalty

A fine the Residential Tenancy Branch can charge a landlord or tenant for breaking the law. This is generally not money that would go into either the landlord or the tenant’s pocket and would be collected by the RTB as a fine. The RTB can investigate and levy fines for certain statutory breaches.
