Assignment and subletting

Transferring the lease (assignment) or renting to someone else (subletting) generally requires landlord consent under the Act and lease. This is often a source of confusion for clients, and the RTB has therefore published Policy Guideline 19 to address the assignment of a tenancy agreement and the subletting of a rental unit or manufactured home site.
